Civitan Gene Wall, 74

Curtis Eugene “Gene” or “Cotton” Wall, 74, of Salisbury passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Born Sept. 15, 1942 in Lee County, he was the son of the late Curtis and Helen Garner Wall. Gene graduated from Cameron High School, Cameron and Kings College, Raleigh. He was a veteran of the US Navy during the Vietnam War and served in Subic Bay, Philippines. He worked in Human Resources and Public Relations with Carolina Telephone/Sprint before retiring.

Gene was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was active in the Salisbury Civitans Club where he was a Past Sergeant of Arms. He loved all sports, especially golf, Carolina basketball and NASCAR. In his younger days he enjoyed playing golf and softball. His family was the most important part of his life, especially his grandchildren and all of their accomplishments.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, John Beach and sister, Peggy Marie Wall. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marsha Perry Wall, whom he married Nov. 20, 1993; sons, Kevin Wall of Hickory and Brian Wall (Sheri Westbrook) of Cameron; brother, David Wall of Whispering Pines; grandchildren, Corbin Wall of Cameron, Jack Wall, Peri Wall, and Smith Wall of Hickory.

Service: A memorial service will be conducted at 1 .m., – Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jill Smith, Minister of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation: The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
