Civitan Ella "Dee" Woods, 70


Ms. Ella Delores "Dee" Woods, age 70, passed on Monday, April 8, 2019 at UNC Rex Healthcare, Raleigh. Born on May 16, 1948 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Holmes and Lonnie Mae Donaldson. Ms. Woods was educated in the Salisbury Rowan County School System and graduated from J.C. Price High School, Class of 1966. She also received a Bachelors Degree from Livingstone College in 1973. Ella was a member of Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church where she taught Vacation Bible School. She retired after 40 years from teaching in the Public School System in 2013. She was a member of the following Clubs and Organizations: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Advisory Board of the State Employees Credit Union Executive Director of Tsunami Development Literacy Program Member and Former National President of J.C. Price National Alumni Association J.C. Price Local Alumni Association Dixonville/Lincoln Community Association Civitan Club Salisbury Dancing Queens and Kings In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy Donaldson, Richard Donaldson and Agnes Gray She is survived by daughter, Martilya (Roger Daniel) Adams of Raleigh; grandchildren, Morgan Adams and Ryan Adams, both of Raleigh; sisters and brothers, Dinah Woods Kelly (Charles), Leytanyer "Tanny" Woods Reddick and Lawrence Woods (Yolanda), all of Salisbury, Hilda Woods Bost (Harvey) of Concord, Joseph Holmes of Bowie, MD and Phyllis Lee (Gregory) of Cheltenham, MD; special nephew, Tevin Reddick of Phoenix, AZ; a host of nieces, other nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with visitation at 2pm and funeral at 3pm. At other times, the family will at the home of sister, Leytanyer "Tanny" Woods, 1803 Chantilly Lane, Salisbury. Interment will follow services at Oakwood Cemetery. Elder Richard Johnson, pastor of Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, Officiating. There will be no Public Viewing. Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc is assisting the Family.
